HUSKER DU?

Does anyone else remember playing this game?
Fred and I used to play this game multiple times daily in the early 1970's. Fred was only about two years old, but he could always win (I think that it was because I always let him go first, being the wonderful big sister I am). When he would get a match, he would just laugh and laugh.
I came upon this game while shopping today. Wonderful memories have such power! As soon as I saw it, the wonderful memories of playing with him filled my mind (and heart). Oh, what a great time we had as kids. He was/is the best little brother in the world. I don't know what I would do without him!

Guess what Fred is getting for his birthday?
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Cute, Cuter, and The Cutest Thing Ever!

Aren't these little Levi's jeans cute? Isn't this little Marshall t-shirt even cuter?
What could be even cuter than these?
This special little birthday boy wearing them!
Even if he does wear his Thomas the Tank skivvies over the jeans! {grin}

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Breakfast for Dinner

Tuesdays are the days that I go in to work late, but also have to stay at work later than normal. When I got home, after dark this evening, these two goobers, were making breakfast for dinner.
They had fixed..... pancakes, and.....
sausage, and.....
hashbrowns, and eggs. It was delicious and very much appreciated.
I love those two goobers!

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

My Mornings....My Way!

For the past couple of weeks Jim has been off work and Maci has been home from school, due to the holidays. I have a routine that I follow every morning while I'm getting ready for work, and since everyone else in the household was still snuggled up in their warm beds, sound asleep, I tried to be as quiet as I could so that they could sleep as long as they wanted.
I love it when they are home, but since Jim went back to work and Maci back to school.......
I have so missed........ making my bed of a morning, and having it look like this when I get home.
And, I've missed.........
watching the news, and the Today Show as I get ready for work.
And, I've missed.......
a sweet, kind, and loving daughter to start my car in the mornings, on her way to school, so that when I leave for work my car is defrosted and warm and toasty.
(The look on her face is because her iPhone alarm did not go off this morning to wake her up and she overslept,
making it impossible to have a good hair, makeup, and wardrobe day. Although, she still looks pretty cute to me.)
Oh, the simple joys!
You crown the year with Your good blessings,
and You leave abundance in Your wake. Psalm 65:11

A Quiet Day

I spent the day inside today. I never set my alarm on Sundays, because I am always awake since it is two more hours of sleep than I normally get, but...today I didn't wake up. I didn't move at all last night. I was exhausted! Since I always get everyone else up on Sunday morning, needless to say, we all overslept. I didn't get out of bed till noon, waking Jim up, and the girls came out of their rooms around 1pm. (And, I hate to admit, Morgan and I took a nap this afternoon).
Since we have to get back in to a semi-routine tomorrow, with Jim going back to work after a week and a few days off, I go back to work for the first full week in a few, and Maci goes back to school after a week and a few days off, we spent the day inside just lounging around.
There was a lot of this going on:
Jim watching a Marshall basketball game on the computer.....
.... Morgan watching a football game in the family room.....
.....and Maci watching a game on her iPhone.
While all this watching was going on, I did some laundry, rearranged the space over my kitchen cabinets, wrapped a couple of presents for Gus so that Morgan can take them back to school with her, ordered a birthday gift on-line, and just puttered around getting ready for the upcoming week.
At some point during the day, this cutie did go and get a hair cut and make a stop at Wal-Mart (it seems we always need something from Wal-Mart and that we can't make a trip in to town without visiting the establishment and paying our $50 entrace fee at the door.
Hope everyone has a good week!
Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

First day of 2011

I decided that beginning on January 1st I would blog a photo a day for a year:
After ringing in the new year with Jim and Morgan, Maci came home from seeing the new year in with the King's, and we played..."Guess the TV/Movie Theme Music". Morgan and Jim were quite competitive, with both guessing about equal number of titles. I went to bed around 2am, Jim came to bed a little later, and I have no idea how long the girls stayed up singing and dancing. Saturday morning Morgan and I picked up Molli and headed out to do some shopping in Charleston. I love to shop, and especially love to shop with my girls. We were invited to the Petersen's for homemade pizza for lunch, but didn't quite make it till after supper time. I made sure that there was going to be a piece of pizza saved for me. My cousin, Charlie, made this pizza from scratch:

I would not lie....I am a pizza lover, and....this is the very best pizza I have ever tasted! He makes the crust from scratch. It. Was. Delicious! I know that I am going to want another piece when I wake up tomorrow.

While shopping, we were on the look out for a 2nd birthday gift for Charlie and Tarah's son, Alex. I had an idea of what I wanted to get him, but looking around at all the children's clothes, I could not pass these up, and had to go ahead and give them to him:
How cute is that? Thomas the Tank skivvies.
Alex is such a cutie anyway, and such a fun personality!
We visited and talked with my Aunt Janice and Uncle Pete for a while, then it was time to head for home.
What a great first day of 2011...shopping with my girls and visiting with family!
